El Príncipe Felipe, cabeza de Madrid 2020, analiza la candidatura

"No solo estoy ilusionado, estoy entusiasmado por formar parte de este proyecto y formar parte de un equipo muy cohesionado, sólido, profesional y con un entusiasmo inigualable". Así de orgulloso se mostraba Su Alteza Real el Príncipe Felipe a su llegada a Buenos Aires y tras participar en los primeros ensayos de la presentación de la candidatura de Madrid 2020. "Estamos ante la última etapa, la traca final de la Candidatura. Siempre hay cosas por hacer, pero soy consciente de que podemos tener la confianza de que la gente del equipo ha hecho el trabajo que tenía que hacer", remarcó.

Don Felipe resaltó algunos de los puntos fuertes de la Candidatura madrileña: "El principal es una candidatura en la que casi todo está hecho. El 80 de las infraestructuras están ya disponibles, y el esfuerzo que hay que hacer es menor. Y el nivel de apoyo popular es muy alto. Madrid es una de las pocas capitales europeas que no tiene el honor de ser ciudad olímpica, y eso para los madrileños es sin duda un aspecto importante", señaló.

"Los Juegos Olímpicos son una grandísima oportunidad para cualquier ciudad, y Madrid tiene en este momento una grandísima oportunidad para sí misma y para España. España necesita un impulso positivo como el que los Juegos proporcionan. Estamos no solo esperanzados de que Madrid logre esa candidatura sino muy ilusionados", dijo.

"We are really happy to be here in this final stage, in the final sprint for the Bid. During the campaign, we have explained many different subjects that Madrid can nowadays present as strengths. Our main point is that ours is a Bid with most of the infrastructures already built; 80% of investment efforts have already been made and infrastructures are already available, in relative terms also, the effort to be made is less than in other historic times of Olympism. In addition, popular support is very high, Madrid is one of the few European capital cities which have not had the honour to host the Games and for Madrileños this is undoubtedly an important aspect for our history and our future.

There is no doubt that the Olympic Games represent a great opportunity for any city in any country, and at this very moment, Madrid has a great opportunity for itself and for Spain. Spain needs a positive boost and the Olympic Games provide such a positive boost. We are not only hopeful that Madrid will achieve this Bid, but also we are excited about it.
