Free Public Transport for the Climate Summit Participants. Madrid, December 2 to 13th

The Minister for Ecological Transition (MITECO), along with the Madrid City Hall, will be coordinating commuting arrangements for the participants of COP25, to be held in Madrid from December 2 to 13. In order to achieve this, both agencies have signed agreements with the Transport Consortium of the Community of Madrid, who agreed to offer at least 20,000 pre-charged transportation cards that will be acquired by MITECO and the Madrid City Hall with a 60% discount.

Participants will be able to access a 5-day Tourism Pass (Abono Turistico) for Zone A — corresponding to the City of Madrid — which they will be able to recharge twice for the duration of the Summit. This way COP25 accredited attendees will be able to use public transportation free of charge for up to 15 days. Participants will receive this pass along with their accreditation at the IFEMA UN counter.

The Tourism Pass is personal and allows for an unlimited number of trips within the regular transport system inside Zone A (Madrid Metro System, EMT urban buses, Line one of the Light Urban Train (Tren Ligero) and Cercanías RENFE train system.

Under the agreement between the Transport Consortium of the Community of Madrid, the Ministry will facilitate the installment of three sales terminals inside IFEMA, where COP25 will take place. This will allow for users to recharge their cards free of charge.
